The Government of West Bengal on July 20, 2026, issued a notification regarding Guidelines on Payment of Bonus for 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•This advisory order issued by the Labour Department of West Bengal appeals to all employers and employees to maintain industrial peace by adhering to statutory provisions under the Payment of Bonus Act.
•Employers are urged to maintain bonus rates at least equal to the previous year, settle disputes amicably, and pay ex gratia to those exceeding eligibility limits.
•The order emphasizes that all eligible workers, including casual, re-employed, contractor, and unorganized sector workers with at least 30 working days, must receive their bonus dues.
•Furthermore, employers with past default payments are expected to clear pending dues alongside current bonus distributions.
•All bonus payments must be fully completed between September 28, 2026, and October 01, 2026, ahead of the Durga Puja festival.
